The Latin American Montessori Bilingual Public Charter School's (LAMB) goal is bi-literacy in English and Spanish. LAMB currently has pre-school through second grade. In school year 2007 - 2008, LAMB will have three classrooms of 3-, 4- and 5-year-olds, and two elementary classrooms of 1st, 2nd and 3rd graders. LAMB utilizes the Montessori curriculum - core academic and non-academic subject matter. Each class has a Spanish dominant Montessori teacher and an English dominant Montessori teacher. Children are immersed in Spanish for 80% of the time during the primary years of Montessori; and 60% Spanish and 40% English in elementary (1st , 2nd , and 3rd grade). Each year LAMB will add a grade level until 6th grade. Latin American Montessori Bilingual Public Charter School was chartered by the DC Board of Education in 2001.
