Howard Road was conceived by a group of professionals committed to improving the quality of education available to residents of Ward 8. Managed by Mosaica Education, Inc., the education program will feature the research-based Direct Instruction curriculum. Chartered for 1,270 students in grades kindergarten through twelve, the school began operations by serving 500 K through sixth grade students. The school added seventh grade in 2004. Howard Road was chartered by the D.C. Public Charter School Board in 1999.
