In partnership with the Edison Project, these schools build upon the significant reputation of Friendship-Edison House as a long-standing human service provider in the District. The schools are organized around small academies, wherein teachers stay with the same children for several years. Technology plays an important role in the educational program. Families of students in the third grade and higher receive a home computer. The school supports a strong commitment to parents and families. Friendship Public Charter School Southeast Elementary Academy opened in September 2005.
