Washington, DC - The D.C. Public Charter School Board (PCSB) has released the 2007 School Performance Reports (SPR) for download from the PCSB website. The PCSB publishes the SPR annually, to provide information to community members about each school, including a school profile, summaries of reviews, financial management, accountability plan performance, unique accomplishments, test data, and PCSB actions.
This year's report includes data collected about schools operating under the PCSB's authority during the 2006-2007 school year. The SPR does not include information about public charter schools previously authorized by the D.C. Board of Education, which came under the authority of the PCSB in June 2007. The PCSB's executive director Josephine Baker stated, "The School Performance Reports enable parents and other interested community members to evaluate charter schools using review summaries, progress on standardized tests over time, and the accomplishments and features unique to each school. Parents may want to use the SPR as they begin the process of choosing a charter school for their child."
Bound copies of the 2007 School Performance Reports are also available to be picked up from the PCSB offices, or may be mailed to community members upon request. Requests may be phoned in to 202/328-2660 or emailed to dcpublic@dcpubliccharter.com.
The D.C. Public Charter School Board currently oversees 56 charter schools, serving more than 22,000 students citywide.
