The D.C. Public Charter School Board holds monthly meetings at its headquarters, normally every third Monday at 7:30 pm. Dates and times may change due to scheduling conflicts, Federal holidays, inclement weather, or other logistical concerns. Members of the public are welcome, but should confirm their attendance with board staff by calling 202/328-2660 at least one business day before the scheduled meeting.
Unless otherwise indicated, all board meetings take place at the Board headquarters:
3333 14th Street, NW
2nd Floor Conference Room
Washington, DC 20010
(One block north of the Columbia Heights Metro. Enter below the Gala Theatre medallion on 14th Street, next to Wachovia Bank)
All board meetings are open to the public. Interested community members are encouraged to attend, to hear about school accountability and school requests, and to witness board discussions and decisions.
Community members are strongly encouraged to present testimony during public hearings. Public hearings are required when:
-
a school requests to amend its charter agreement, including:
-
change of its curriculum or program focus
-
change in the grades served
-
other substantive changes from the initial charter application
-
board members are considering new applications;
-
board members are considering revoking a charter (if the school requests it);
Community members who present oral testimony and those who cannot be present at the hearing are strongly encouraged to submit written testimony for the record.
